Driven by passion

Siamaya Chocolate was created in Chiang Mai in 2017 by three friends: Neil, Kris, and Tangkua. They learned every step of chocolate making from scratch, and have since dedicated themselves to improving and perfecting the quality of their chocolate products.

The story continues..

Making bean-to-bar chocolate means taking total control of the chocolate making process, and Siamaya makes their own base chocolates from locally sourced Thai cacao beans. All ingredients added to make the many different chocolate flavors are natural and sourced from the best local Thai producers.

Siamaya continues to innovate Thai-inspired chocolates, using the best local cacao and the highest quality ingredients.

local-farmer

Natural ingredients purchased directly from local farmers

Our chocolate is only as good as our ingredients. To ensure we make the best quality chocolate, we purchase all-natural and organic cacao beans directly from farmers and local co-ops. We make sure to pay above market rate so the farmers can make a living and we support sustainability practices so our partners will continue to farm long into the future.

Unexpected combinations, infusions, and flavors

In our pursuit of delicious and distinctive Thai-inspired chocolates, we continue to innovate new flavors, improve our chocolates, and search for the best ingredients. On our quest, we surprise and delight our customers with unexpected combinations, infusions, and flavors, some of which have been recognized with international chocolate awards.

We are committed

to constantly improve our business activities to achieve the highest standards of environmental sustainability and social inclusion.
eco-friendly

Evironmental sustainability

Embracing eco-friendly practices, we utilize recycled paper, soya-based inks, and reduce waste across our production processes. This commitment is a cornerstone of our ongoing efforts to minimize our environmental footprint.

In developing our packaging, we've taken significant steps towards sustainability. This intentional decision mirrors our commitment to the zero-waste cause, underscoring our dedication to an environmentally conscious and responsible approach in every aspect of our production.

Furthermore, our commitment extends to sourcing only the finest local ingredients, minimizing the need for long-distance transport and cutting import costs. It's a proactive measure not only for quality but also for the environment, reinforcing our positive impact on both fronts.

Direct trade

At Siamaya we swear to working directly with the cocoa farmers in Thailand, also called "direct trade." We pay around 2-2.5 times as much as Fairtrade programs usually pay farmers for the cacao, and often go on field trips to make sure the cacao is grown sustainably and with respect for the nature around the cacao plantations.

With this higher payment we require pesticide free farming and a strict no-burning policy. As in other regions of South East Asia, pollution caused by agricultural burning is an issue in Thailand, and by introducing a no-burning policy we aim to contribute to a better and greener world.

Equality and education

We have a recruitment policy, which ensures a balanced workforce, including equal numbers of men and women, as well as diversity in terms of sexual orientation, race, religion, etc. This policy also ensures that our employees are paid fairly, and treated with respect.

We invite students from all schools in Chiangmai to visit us for both chocolate making workshops as well as teaching about how to start up small businesses and what it means to have social awareness and sustainability as key values.
